We are delighted that Amsterdam-based, Australian ‘Body Architect’, Lucy McRae, is Pin-up’s 2013 Summer Resident. Through February and March, Lucy transforms the gallery space into a ‘live lab’, experimenting with new works while reflecting on past projects through the mapping of the interwoven concepts that drive her process.
During Lucy's residency, she has developed a Swallowable Parfum® Live Lab:
Imagine it is 50 years into the future and an entire body of work is available for reflection.
Lucy McRae takes this vantage point extracting one project from her future oeuvre for presentation in her Live Lab. For one night you are invited to explore the evolution and production of her Swallowable Parfum®, established 2023, a biologically enhanced fragrance evaporated through the skin.

Lucy’s residency follows the inaugural residency exhibition in early 2012 byJon Tarry – a highly respected WA-based artist working with notions of art, architecture and geo-political space.
A classically trained dancer, Lucy’s work uses the human body as inspiration for experimentation working across the disciplines of art, design, science and technology. She is a TED fellow and has worked with Nick Knight, Aesop, Johan Renck, Robyn, Bart Hess, American Vogue and AnOther Magazine. She has also exhibited at Centre Pompidou and Palais de Tokyo in Paris.

About
Pin-up is an independent architecture and design gallery, project and event space housed within one of Melbourne's most vibrant creative precincts. Firmly engaged with promoting local debate yet with an international outlook, Pin-up is dedicated to exhibiting, communicating and promoting architecture and design in an accessible, responsive and inspirational environment.
Pin-up is an initiative of Something Together, founded by Fleur Watson, Curator and former Editor of Monument Magazine, and Martyn Hook, Architect and Melbourne Editor of AR Magazine. Something Together is a creative studio focused on presenting architecture and design in an intelligent and accessible way through the design, curation and production of exhibitions, events and publications. Joining Fleur and Martyn on Pin-up is Emma Telfer, Partner and Marketing Communications Lead.
Pin-up takes its name from a studio approach where designers 'pin-up' their design process in order to reveal ideas through presenting them to others and, in turn, develop a richer, more meaningful understanding of the importance of investing in quality architecture and design.
